Challenge

US digital health company Health Rhythms wanted a platform that would let users track their emotional state and build healthier daily habits. Because healthcare is a tightly regulated field, the solution had to be fully HIPAA-compliant from the ground up. It also needed to connect with a large number of third-party APIs without compromising platform performance or security.

Solution

SoftTeco built two connected, HIPAA-compliant applications for Health Rhythms that let users monitor their mental health while care specialists provide targeted support.

SoftTeco built the solution from the ground up: a cross-platform mobile app for patients and a web portal for care specialists. The app lets users complete psychological self-assessments, track their well-being, and reach licensed professionals around the clock, with real-time, secure messaging powered by CometChat. The portal gives care coaches visibility into patient activity and test results so they can tailor their support. The backend and infrastructure (NestJS, PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS provisioned via Terraform as infrastructure-as-code) were purpose-built to meet HIPAA requirements across storage, communication and access, including encryption, API testing with Swagger and Postman, and monitoring through Datadog.

Results

Health Rhythms version 1.0 launched on schedule and in line with the client’s original concept, followed shortly after by version 2.0 with additional features. Version 1.0’s download numbers exceeded the planned KPI by more than double. The client was satisfied with the collaboration and praised the professionalism of the SoftTeco team.
