Melio started out as an early-stage fintech startup with a working MVP that still needed to be turned into a mature, full-featured product. Based on SoftTeco’s skills and track record, the client brought the team on to work alongside its in-house development team.

Solution

SoftTeco helped fintech startup Melio grow its MVP into a full-featured B2B payment platform with extensive third-party integrations.

SoftTeco extended Melio’s functionality with integrations for QuickBooks Online and Xero, letting customers manage their accounting in one place without duplicate data entry. The team also reworked the integration with the legacy QuickBooks Desktop application, fixing bugs and optimizing the codebase along the way. To roll out new features in a controlled way, the team introduced feature flags for A/B testing and improved analytics by routing events through Segment into Amplitude and Braze. Because Melio didn’t yet have highly structured development processes at that stage, SoftTeco adapted to the client’s workflow to keep collaboration smooth and avoid downtime on the live product.

Results

SoftTeco has been involved with Melio since 2018, when the company was still at an early startup stage. Melio has since grown into a unicorn startup and, according to the case study, was named to Forbes‘ Fintech 50 list two years running. The existing application was successfully optimized and functionally extended, and the collaboration continues.
