Formic All-round support for a complex Robots-as-a-Service system.

For a US Robots-as-a-Service provider, SoftTeco took on end-to-end technical support spanning backend, cloud infrastructure, app development and system integrations.

SoftTeco redesigned and optimized Formic’s existing data collection and processing system so it could keep pace with the growing volume of data generated by the robots, and supported the migration to AWS, deploying several AWS IoT services including Greengrass, SiteWise and IoT Core. The backend admin panel was extended to handle a wide range of data formats and to integrate with more than six external services, including Salesforce and Datadog; data and processes previously managed in Google Sheets were also moved to Salesforce and connected to Retool, keeping core business data consistently accessible. For Formic’s own employees, SoftTeco also maintained an internal, offline-capable augmented reality application built on Unity and the Vuforia Engine that shows how a robot will integrate into a given facility, including its configuration, administration and the management of the underlying animations and 3D models. In parallel, the team optimized the existing Android app used by robot operators and built a new cross-platform application for end users that provides real-time monitoring and live streaming of robots; data is delivered through custom-built REST APIs, with quality assured through automated testing via BrowserStack.
